About DyadStats

DyadStats is a website traffic analysis system for filtering out noise and junk and improving the accuracy performance reports.

How it works Filtering

DyadStats examines requests for webpages and looks at each IP address, User Agent, Query string, and the Path of the UR, and returns a 'block' status of 0, for requests that seem ok, and 1 for those that don't

IP address filtering uses a database of IPs that have been seen as the source of significant volumes of junk traffic and/or nefarious activities – eg. scanning for admin log-in pages or XSS/SQL vulnerabilities.

URL filtering uses a database of URL components associated with looking for software vulnerabilities to gain unauthorised access to a website or server. A simple example would be requests for administrator login URLs for CMS like Wordpress (/wp-admin/).

User Agent filtering uses a similar database to identify bots/scrapers and assess them as welcome or not. This can help highlight how well a website is being crawled by search engines, and separate robot visits from general traffic reports.
